ABOUT
Jonathan Christiansen
Hi! I'm a professional music supervisor, strategic executive, DJ and music producer. I help find the right song for the right moment, ensure all rights are secured, edits are dope, and an impact is felt.
I grew up outside of Boston, studying computer science, math and playing sports throughout high school & college. My music obsession started with burned CDs, subs in trunks, and an intro to DJing. I decided to change my professional sights towards music as well (surely my parents loved that), I packed up my stick-shift Hyundai Tiburon, and moved out to Los Angeles.
I cut my teeth with the esteemed crew at Hit The Ground Running, led by legends Jason Alexander and Rudy Chung - first as an assistant, then coordinator, and graduating to full-on music supervisor across films & television. It was my great honor to help shape the sounds of franchises such as CSI, Nikita, Power, and Gotham, studio films like The First Purge and Child's Play, and documentaries on Wu-Tang Clan, Biggie and DMX.
During this time I also became the first employee at PUSHER - a boutique trailer music pioneer - eventually growing to Senior A&R and Label Manager where I signed composers, producers, and artists, representing their catalogs and helping them craft cues which soundtracked spots for brands like HBO, Burberry, Call of Duty and Airbnb.
In the next chapter, I held a creative music role in-house at Netflix, where I oversaw music for scripted original series like Stranger Things and Outer Banks, and then similarly at Paramount, where I looked after documentaries, and founded/led MUSAÏC - an internal group focusing on the intersection of music & technology.
Today I work independently, music supervising and strategy consulting for brands such as Peloton, Insomniac and HBO.

Creative collaboration is my love language. The best idea wins - not an ego. I care passionately about delivering on the vision of the filmmaker (or client otherwise).
I give the legal & paperwork side of the project equal respect and effort. I sleep easy at night knowing things have been handled properly.

I started DJing in college as MIXMASON, and have played countless gigs, residencies, and mixtapes ever since. Some of my favorite clients have been Riot Games, Nobu, Brownies & Lemonade and H&M. A current focus on the live side is GARDEN CLUB, an invite-only party series I co-founded with HAMX.
As a music producer, I've had songs in NBA 2K (three times), Running Point, Eurovision, and Magnum P.I. (among others). I also write Friday Feels, a weekly newsletter, and run Music Leagues.
Los Angeles is home, with my wife Ali and our two boys 🫶
